Chrysler 200: Luxury You Can Afford

The smallest model in the automaker's lineup, the Chrysler 200 provides luxury at a price that the average person is actually able to afford. The Chrysler 200 is exciting with a sleek exterior design that feels very contemporary. The striking wheels and smooth lines will draw in your eyes while the slim horizontally oriented grille creates a distinctive front end by flowing into the headlamps and dramatic lower grille intake. When you get inside the Chrysler 200, you will notice everything is within easy reach in this space-efficient interior. The center console has climate controls, your electric parking brake, and a Rotary E-Shift, along with plenty of storage. The cabin can seat five in comfort with an 8-way power driver seat featuring 4-way power lumbar.

What Was Updated on the 2017 Chrysler 200?

The Chrysler 200 was completely redesigned several years ago, so there are just a handful of updates for the 2017 model year. The 2017 Chrysler 200 saw the previous year's 90th Anniversary Edition disappear, which makes sense as that trim was only designed to be a limited-edition model. Additionally, the existing trim levels have been reorganized for the 2017 model year while the overall list of standard and available features remains the same.

You will also notice two new option packages on the latest Chrysler 200. The Alloy Edition gives you the option of all-wheel drive along with a sport suspension and finishes in titanium and dark bronze. The Dark Appearance Package is available with the Touring trim, and it gives you gloss-black exterior trim and 18-inch gloss-black wheels.

The Brief History of the Chrysler 200

The Chrysler 200 officially got its name for the 2011 model year as a replacement for the Sebring. It had the same overall styling as the Sebring, but a longer list of premium features and enhanced power. It was also lowered to create a ride that better conformed to the road and had higher-quality wheels, new headlamp housings with LED strips, and new taillights. Inside, the 2011 Chrysler 200 had improved sound insulation and higher-quality materials than its predecessor. It was available as a 2-door convertible or 4-door sedan and with a 173-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder or a 283-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. There was also the choice of a 4-speed or 6-speed automatic and E85 compatibility. All Chrysler 200s had cruise control, antilock disc brakes, an emergency trunk release, and an MP3 stereo system.

For 2013, the only changes made to the Chrysler 200 were on the Limited models, which received standard Boston Acoustics speakers and a more powerful V6, the first of which had previously been an option. Following no changes for the 2014 model year, the 2015 Chrysler 200 was completely redesigned. It got a new platform from Alfa Romeo, meaning that very few components and features carried over from the previous model year. This 2015 version got sleeker, although it was still very much a Chrysler. The interior was also new, and the Chrysler 200 got a new base engine, a 184-horsepower 2.4-liter Multiair2 Tigershark. Since that redesign, Chrysler has mostly kept this model the same, making almost no changes for the 2016 model year.
